Wednesday's Word of the Week - Loyalty to the Extreme

Loyalty to the Extreme

Read Ruth, chapter 1.

Thought for today: If a friend disappoints you, goes off the deep end, does something stupid, or even repulsive, that friend is still your friend. You do not say, “I’ll never trust you or like you again.” You’re always ready to forgive and start over with a friend.
Michael W. Smith, performing artist

Something more to think about: As you read the story about Ruth and Naomi, what bugged you about Naomi’s attitude? What did you find wonderful about Ruth’s attitude? Is there someone in your life who is like Naomi (maybe even you, sometimes)? If you’re feeling discouraged about your friend’s attitude, be sure to talk to an adult about the situation in order to gain some ideas.

Wednesday's Word of the Week - Everybody Needs Somebody

Everybody Needs Somebody

Read Genesis 2:15-18

God noticed that man was lonely when he made him, suggesting it is not simply our weaknesses that drive us to need friendship, but a God-given need for others to share life with.

Who are you happy to admit that you need in your life? If your world suddenly turned upside down and you didn’t know what to do or where to turn, what do you think you’d need most, to see you through? Probably a friend!

Jesus is our very best friend. He already knows every detail of our lives. He never changes, never judges us, and he will always be there for us. He owes you nothing, but wants to give freely to you His love and friendship. That’s why 2000 years ago he died on the cross for us, to be your Saviour and friend.

Memory Verse:
“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
Proverbs 18:24

Pray:
Spend some time in prayer this week thanking God for those people who you ‘need’ in your life. Ask God to help you follow Him.
